Electrophysiology
Electrophysiology comprises:
EEG = record of electrical activity of the brain = electroencephalogram. The basic bioelectric activity of the brain is measured. Many disorders of the brain can lead to changes in the bioelectric activity of nerve cell groups. Focal results can be differentiated from general results. EEG, with its capacity for illustrating the potential for epileptic fits,
We make a distinction between directional Doppler ultrasonography and transcranial Doppler ultrasonography. Directional Doppler ultrasonography is used for the diagnosis of pathological vascular alterations in the large neck veins that could be the cause of circulatory disorders. Directional Doppler ultrasonography is far from satisfactory as a method for diagnosing the risk of strokes (see Strokes).
