IHHT (Interval Hypoxia Hyperoxia Therapy) – the workout for your cells
Special oxygen training provides new cell energy
If the power plants of our cells weaken, they can be reactivated using interval hypoxia-hyperoxia therapy (IHHT). The human body consists of approximately 70 trillion cells. Each of them in turn contains numerous tiny power plants, the mitochondria: they supply the energy for every smallest biochemical step in our metabolic processes. If many mitochondria are damaged, energy generation in our cells becomes increasingly ineffective. Over the years, you will increasingly notice the lack of energy: for example as increased tiredness and exhaustion.
Lack of energy is the cause of many chronic diseases
According to the latest scientific findings, chronic neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease, but also other chronic diseases such as arteriosclerosis, stroke, diabetes mellitus or burnout arise on the basis of so-called mitochondriopathies, that means diseases of the mitochondria.
Mitochondria consume about 90% of our oxygen and convert food energy into cell energy, so-called ATP, while consuming oxygen. An adult produces and uses 70 kg of ATP in 24 hours, that means 3x 1018 molecules of ATP are produced and used again per second, that is more than 1 trillion (1,000,000,000,000,000,000) ATP molecules. ATP is the basic molecule for all biochemical reactions in our body, life is not possible without ATP.
When the mitochondria become diseased, they can no longer produce enough ATP. In laboratory tests, this is expressed in parameters such as the so-called proton leak, reduced oxygen consumption and lower reserve breathing capacity. We then often feel tired and exhausted, cannot sleep at night and develop symptoms such as indigestion, tinnitus, headaches, cardiac arrhythmia, anxiety symptoms, depressive moods and general malaise. If this process continues to develop untreated, these symptoms then lead to serious, chronic diseases.
Which causes the mitochondria to age more rapidly
Functioning mitochondria are the basis for lasting health. Since their genetic material (DNA) is relatively sensitive, they age particularly quickly. In particular, harmful environmental influences such as electrosmog, environmental and industrial toxins, viruses and bacteria, or increased stress lead to damage. The body’s repair efforts cause the DNA in the damaged mitochondria to shorten. Since this short DNA can be duplicated more quickly, damaged mitochondria multiply more than intact ones and push them further and further back. Aging processes and the lifestyle of the 21st century lead to damage to the mitochondria, which can now be seen in every third person over the age of 20.
How does interval hypoxia-hyperoxia therapy (IHHT) help mitochondria?
Damaged mitochondria cannot be repaired, but IHHT therapy gives us the opportunity to weed out diseased mitochondria and create new, healthy ones. A targeted use of mountain air triggers a lack of oxygen in the cells, which means that healthy mitochondria multiply and diseased mitochondria perish.
This technique has been exploited in IHHT treatment by delicately balancing the elimination of damaged mitochondria with the creation of new, healthy ones under conditions of mimic hypoxia, such as we otherwise find at altitudes over 15,000 feet . One uses the so-called interval altitude training, which is imitated by equipment. The targeted use of mountain air triggers a lack of oxygen in the cells, which in turn increases the body’s own adaptation and self-healing processes.
Scientifically proven, this causes a
- Increase in physical and mental performance
- Activation of energy and fat metabolism
- Improvement of stress resistance
- Increase in vascular elasticity
- Strengthening of the immune system
- Increase in general well-being
Course of IHHT therapy (interval hypoxia-hyperoxia therapy)
Before treatment, we carry out a cardiac variability measurement in order to adjust the therapy individually to your physical needs. During the therapy you lie or sit relaxed in a chair. A breathing mask is used to supply you with low and high concentrations of oxygen at intervals of a few minutes. The oxygen concentration in the blood is constantly measured and monitored using a pulse oximeter (finger clip) so that you don’t overload yourself. The duration of the training is 40 – 50 minutes. The treatment with the apparatus mimics about five climbs up a high mountain where the oxygen partial pressure is low
Altitude balance training according to the IHHT method represents the most advanced stage of development of interval hypoxia training. The treatment method is based on pilot and cosmonaut training, which researchers from Russia and the USA used as early as the 1980s to ensure safety acclimatizing the metabolism to high altitudes. Due to the positive stimulation and regulation of a large number of bodily functions, this method has also been used in top-class sports for many years and increasingly in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.
Your benefits of oxygen cell training using the IHHT method:
You can cope better with constant stress, have more composure and greater resilience, can switch off more easily, are refreshed in the morning and start the day in a good mood.
The improved oxygen intake means that you don’t get out of breath as quickly.
You have better memory and better concentration. And you prevent diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
With IHHT you can naturally balance out hormone fluctuations and benefit from youth and beauty hormones for longer.
You can expect more vitality, well-being and energy in everyday life and at work.
With IHHT therapy, you burn more fat, maintain your muscle mass and reduce the risk of diabetes and dyslipidemia.
Oxygen cell training leads to more elasticity in your vessels, fewer deposits, increases and improves blood circulation and normalizes your blood pressure.
The heart rate variability measurement confirms your personal well-being after the therapy.
